I use an iPhone, so this blog will be based on my favourite sports apps on the iOS platform. I follow 5 or 6 different sports pretty closely, so this topic is something I have a personal interest in. Below, find my thoughts on my 3 favourite sports apps.

iPhone Sports Apps

1. ScoreMobile – Free

@thescoreapp is the sports app that I use 75% of the time. The app allows you to prioritize your favourite sports so you can quickly access the scores, standings, news, and statistical leaders of the leagues that are most important to you. When the season ends for a certain sports league it is extremely simple to move it down the list and move a different league to the top of the list. You can also follow the teams and athletes that you care about so you can check out their recent results. The app in general is extremely easy to navigate which is why I use it most often, You can also share any news or scores through twitter and facebook without any difficulty.

2. Yahoo! Sportacular – Free

I like Yahoo! Spectacular because it allows you to follow the games that are trending. It is also really simple to navigate and it allows access to the scores and results of all of the major global sports. Outside of their app, @yahoosports is great to follow because of their quick updates and knowledgable writers. In general, I prefer Scoremobile, because it doesn’t seem to take as long to load. This app is also useful because it allows you to sync things with your Fantasy Football App. Given that fantasy sports are a billion dollar industry and a lot of my friends and colleagues use Yahoo for their fantasy sports, this can come in handy.

3. ESPN ScoreCenter – Free

Outside of soccer, I mostly pay attention to the four major North American sports (Basketball, Football, Baseball, Hockey). @scorecenter is perfect for me as it mostly pays attention to these sports. The app provides you with live scoring alerts as well as game casts, which allow you to follow games that are happening in real-time. I also like this app because the calendar is really easy to navigate. You can find out quickly what games will be happening on what dates. Again, I find ScoreMobile to load more quickly.

Overall, these sports apps are three solid options if you want to be able to quickly access the scores and standings of your favourite sports leagues. In the end, I have to give the edge to ScoreMobile, because of it’s look, feel, and how easy it is to navigate.
